Russell D. Barr, Esq. is the founder and managing partner of Barr & Associates, P.C. He graduated cum laude from the State University of New York at Albany with a B.S. in economics in 1981, where he was also a member of the Omicron Delta Epsilon - International Economics Honor Society. The next year, he went on to earn his MBA in accounting there.

A native of Long Island, New York, Russell attended Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in New York City, earning his Juris Doctor in 1985. He began his law career at Coopers & Lybrand International Tax Group, honing his skills in international tax law before moving up to the 40-lawyer Park Avenue law firm of Gilbert, Segall & Young.

In the late 1980's, Russell joined the international law firm of Proskauer Rose, where he worked with some of the most talented and brightest lawyers in the world representing large and diverse international and national organizations. In 1993 Russell moved to Stowe, Vermont opening the Law Offices of Russell D. Barr. With a growing staff, the firm was renamed Barr & Associates, P.C. in 1997. Russell has brought together a diverse staff of attorneys and support personnel to serve the New York and Vermont communities. Russell represents clients in all aspects of commercial and tort litigation including trials and appeals and has litigated in areas of commercial, real estate, utilities, class actions, personal injury, medical malpractice, insurance coverage and toxic torts.

Russell is a member of The Association of the Bar of the City of New York; Lamoille County, Vermont, New York State, and American Bar Associations, and the Vermont Trial Lawyers Association. He is admitted to several courts, including, 1986, New York; 1987, U.S. Tax Court; 1993, Vermont; 1996, U.S. District Court, District of Vermont; 1997, U.S. Court of Appeals, Second Circuit; 2000, U.S. District Court, Northern District of New York; 2001, U.S. District Court, Eastern and Southern Districts of New York.

Russell and his wife Toni have three children. As a family, they enjoy skiing and sailing. He recently coached his son's t-ball and basketball teams and never misses his daughters' dance recitals.
